35 weeks

Flash back 3 weeks ago tomorrow, after Dr. Koster's visit, she says, "well, I'll see you at 35 weeks."

I looked at Steph and her mom and smurked. Inside, I said, "Right. 35 weeks. We won't be in this office again."

Cut to today. 35 weeks. We're going back into that office tomorrow. Then, Dr. Jan. Then, if everything holds true to form, according to the last few days, we'll come back home.

Yawn, I know.

Kyle (my mom's husband) is coming in tomorrow for a day. That will be nice.

Maybe we'll all party. Get wasted.

Contraction update

Contractions every 5 minutes from 6:30 - 7. Then a bath. Now, contractions every 10 minutes from 7:15 - 7:35.

We shall see what the night holds in store for us.

Gracie time for a minute:

Me: "Gracie, say something."
Gracie: "Huh?"
Me: "Say something."
Gracie: "What's coming on next?"
Me: "More Wonder Pets"
Gracie: "Oh."
Me: "Say something Gracie."
She laughs.
Me: "What do you have to say?"
Gracie: "I don't know."
Me: "Come on."
Gracie: "I don't want to."

Of course. She wants to watch Wonder Pets. They're saving the baby mouse inside the saxophone. Poauh baby mouse.

Movie update too: Into the Wild - directed by Sean Penn. Very well directed, well shot, well acted. The story was a DRAG! Especially the last 30 minutes of it. If you want a downer of a movie, this one is for you. Emile Hirsch was good. Hal Holbrook was better.

Intuition

Nothing new has happened, but we are getting close. I know it.

Poor Steph

Poor Steph is big.

Poor Steph is uncomfortable.

Poor Steph has two little babies trying to punch and kick their way out.

They are not doing a good enough job. They are only making their mom more uncomfortable. How dare they?!

Poor Steph has had no contractions today.

You guys can stop this whole thing, you know. We're waiting on you. Help your mother out already.

Status quo

At the request of Steph's Nouna, I am writing to say that things are status quo. We're sitting here watching American Idol. Stephanie is laying on the couch. Teddy is right there with her. My mom (she came in this morning) is reading Gracie a story good night. Chikeze is now hugging Danny. That's about it.

Hospital time

Stephanie spent the night in the hospital last night. Let me back up.....

She had an appointment with Dr. Jan yesterday. She was 3 cm dilated. Dr. Jan sent her home with the request to 'please call me if you show any symptoms of labor (i.e. - regular contractions, strong contractions, this, that, the other thing) immediately'.

So, about 7:30 PM, we started keeping track of the contractions. They persisted for a few hours at about every 10 minutes. At 9:30, Steph complied with Dr. Jan's request and called her. Dr. Jan then summoned us into the hospital.

She was still 3 cm dilated last night with regular contractions. Dr. Jan gave her a shot of Dimerol and kept her overnight on the monitor. As of this morning, she's still 3 cm dilated, still has the same contractions, but is showing no other signs. So, she's getting released.

Even still, I don't imagine we'll be playing this game for much longer. :)

34 weeks and snow

Today is 34 weeks. I never thought we would get to this point, babies still in belly. This is the original day Dr. Jan told us Steph would be able to leave the hospital. So much for that.

We woke up to snow on the ground this morning. I thought it would be a magical day to have the twins. It's almost too early to say, but.....so much for that.
You can see a glimpse of the progress we've made in the nursery. And isn't that an awesome piece of art that Gracie is creating. It's for her, um I mean 'their', bathroom.

One more weekend without babies

Teddy was wiped out by the Wylie Stomach Bug on Saturday. It got her good. In fact, she still wasn't herself yesterday. But she was well enough to get her hands dirty in the nursery.

We cleaned that baby up yesterday. The shelves are up on the wall. The stuff is in its place, for right now. Once we start accumulating, the stuff's homes will undoubtedly move. We have so much more storage space for this room than we did with Gracie's.

Gracie is still simply amazing. She is talking more and more each day. Like conversing. She seriously thinks about stuff and seems to be very thoughtful when sharing her thoughts with us. She even pulls up her rocking chair when we're all sitting around and says, 'let's talk about your day.' Where she got that, we don't know, but it is such a good habit to instill. The only problem is she's not too hot on listening to our daily detailed routines. We'll have to work on that. But I'm telling you, she is not short on words, this girl.

Stephanie had a really good weekend. She was more active than she has been (don't read this Dr. Jan!!). It's not like she was helping out around the house, but she wasn't confined to the bed or the couch 24/7. Tomorrow is 34 weeks. It's hard to believe that we're at 34 weeks, especially considering the way things looked that Friday night of 28 weeks.

Movie time: We Own the Night - recommend. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - can't decide because the thing is soooooo slooow. We only made it through the first hour. I bet we don't finish it. So there's some insight.

More words and pictures later.
